Farewell to Maryanne
29.02.2024

This month we sadly say "ka kite ano" to Maryanne Madden, our Attendance Advisor.

Maryanne is off to pursue mahi which is still on the path of supporting rangatahi, so I am sure we will still have heaps of involvement with her!

We wish you all the best for your new mahi.

Please keep an eye out on Facebook as Maryanne's boots will need to be filled, so if you love working with whānau and wish to make a difference in student engagement - this could be a position for you!

MOE Funding for Attendance Services
25.05.2023

The government is taking Aotearoa's school attendance issue seriously and have announced further funding to attendance services in the country.

This means we are now able to offer in-school support for the pastoral teams which manage school attendance. We are here to assist with data analysis and practices to target those in the "amber zone" - students who are at risk of chronic absences.

We look forward to working with our local kura to take a proactive approach to school disengagement!

Student Engagement Survey Results Here!
15.06.2023

Last term, we surveyed 205 students across all kura to gather their opinions on school enjoyment and engagement. We then presented the results to the Kahui Ako and MOE, which was well received. One key message is to "keep these conversations going".

The presentation can be viewed here.

We are now in the process of planning Stage 2, which will start in Term 3 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We ask that staff of the Kahui Ako contact their Principals in the first instance.

Student Engagement Survey
16.05.2023

The Term 1 Student Engagement Survey results are in!

We conducted a broad survey on all students in the region to hear their voice around engagement in school.

What do they like? Dislike? What would make their experience better? What can we do to support you?

We have had a great response and are now in the process of presenting to our schools. Keep an eye out for it on our website in the coming weeks.
